Damian Mycroft, Senior Design Manager, on what makes a great concept
Last week we caught-up with Iain Pottie, part of the team that brought us the C5, for his thoughts on what makes a great concept device as part of Design by Community. Iain revealed that a great concept device should be an idea that goes beyond current technologies and pushes the edges of the ideas envelope. Iain also confessed that his dream device would be one that could do everything from being a 12-inch screen behemoth to a device small enough to fit in your back pocket. This week we’ve turned the camera onto one of Iain’s fellow designers Damian Mycroft. Will he have a different take on things? Watch the video to find out. Once you’re done let us know what makes a great concept device for you? Do you have an idea of your dream phone?

Nokia N900 controls a full-size helicopter

As you might have guessed from the headline and the intro this video was indeed a prank but we have to admit it is a darn good one. Created by the folks over at Tweakker it shows an N900 supposedly controlling a helicopter. In actual fact they just asked the driver to go left and right a bit. Clever. But there is some truth behind the spoof. The second video shows the N900 controlling a chopper albeit an RC kind. Were you fooled? Have you managed to hack the N900? Watch these videos for some aerial inspiration.
