The Week in Pictures #3

Numero three of our week in pictures is here. Mani.E has brought you week 1 and week 2 so far on Nokia Connects but today I want to take over the baton from her (for one week only!). Before I start I want you to tell me at the bottom what I have missed this week, it really is impossible to capture everything!

1. National Puppy Day

Arrrrrr. Those fluffy little cuddly smoochy woochy puppies have their own day for us all to celebrate. If you are not a dog person then March 23rd is a day you probably want to forget! But dog lover or not the day supports orphaned puppies across world and raises awareness for cruelty to these lovely creatures at a young age. How badly do you want to hug this little fellow below?

2. Las Fallas – Valencia

From March 15th to 19th the Spanish city of Valencia celebrates the last days of winter and the arrival of spring with an amazing display of fires and pyrotechnics. The festival is called Las Fallas which translates as ‘the fires’ in English, if you ever get the chance to go you should expect bonfires, fireworks and lots of happy people in festival mode. I think the image below is awesome, but a little scary in the same breath! Watch those eyebrows and nose hairs, they could go up in flames!

3. Fabrice Muamba

Last weekend the footballing world was crocked by the news that Bolton’s Fabrice Muamba suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch during an FA Cup tie with Tottenham Hotspur. Football clubs, players and fans showed their support around the world for this frightfully rare sight in the sport (or any sport for that matter). The player was clinically dead for 78 minutes but medics managed to get his heart pumping again. It was unclear what exactly caused the cardiac arrest but Muamba is now starting his long road to full recovery.

4. Hedge Apples

I do love to have a browse on Flickr, whilst checking out some community photography I stumbled upon this strange looking ball of nature. When I first saw it I thought it was a mouldy tennis ball, I won’t lie. Upon closer inspection I noticed that someone commenting on the image claimed it was a Hedge Apple?! I did my research and discovered something I had never seen or heard of before. Thanks Flickr peeps! Have you guys seen one until now?

5. Maciek Duczynski

Here is my favourite photo this week. Maciek Duczynski was awarded photo of the week on photo.net with this beautiful shot. I don’t think it needs any explanation, just chill out and take it in. Maciek has lots more amazing photography on his homepage 🙂
