The Big Debate: Predictive text

Happy Sunday and welcome to another round of The Big Debate on Nokia Connects. We’ve spoken previously about hardware, user interface, accessories and a load of other topics. Today though, we are going to ask a simple question…

Do you use predictive text?

This topic came around when some of the Nokia Connects team were in a room together. Somebody mentioned predictive text and it kicked off a discussion about who uses it and who doesn’t. Interestingly, I’ve only ever used predictive text on T9 keypads and haven’t felt the need on any phone with an on screen or hardware qwerty, but to my surprise about 50% of the people in the room used predictive txt even with a qwerty.

Let’s take it a step further… how about word suggestions, do you keep these on too? I find these useful and use them from time to time, especially if it’s a long complicated word… so easy to get half way and tap to complete. In fact I’d be a little surprised if anyone didn’t use this feature if it is available, so please let us know if you turn it off and why.

Also, earlier this week over on the @Nokia Twitter channel, the guys asked whether anybody had sent embarrassing messages due to the auto correct feature… so if you have any funny stories please share them!

Now, in the comments section what you need to tell us is whether or not you use predictive text, what kind of keyboard you are using and your reason for using it or not. Also fill us in on your thoughts about the word suggestions and or auto correct. Feel free to spill your thoughts over onto Twitter as well, where we can continue the debate. #NokiaDebate
