How to switch via the cloud from iPhone to Lumia

We showed you how Mihai Cristian Andrei switched from his iPhone to Lumia 930. If you’re considering a move to Windows Phone from iOS, here’s how to do it easily through Lumia’s  “iCloud” sync feature.

In just a few taps, you can move your contacts, emails and other important data from your old iPhone to your new Lumia.

First, before we begin, you should use a WiFi connection to save your data costs. On your old iPhone, turn off “iMessage” to ensure that your new Lumia receives all text messages.

Next, insert your SIM card in your new Lumia smartphone, then sign in or register for a Microsoft account.

By default, your email, contacts and calendar entries on your old iPhone are stored in iCloud. To transfer that information to your new Lumia, set up iCloud.

  • On your Lumia, go to settings, tap “email+accounts,” select “add an account” and choose “iCloud.”
  • Type your iCloud account details and sign in.
  • Wait for the sync to complete. Once that’s done, your contacts, email and calendar will be on your new Lumia.

That’s it. Welcome to the Lumia family!

If you’d rather manually move your content, use the Transfer My Data app on your Lumia. Read our story about the Transfer My Data here.
