When we talk about the different camera components on the Nokia Lumia 1020, we also have to talk about the amazing video capturing features.

We spoke to Kristina Björknäs, Imaging Marketing Manager at Nokia, who was also on stage with Stephen Elop and Juha Alakarhu at the Lumia 1020 launch event in New York.

Needless to say, you should watch the video full screen, with the quality (the cog icon) cranked up to the maximum!

Kristina says:

I started bee keeping in April and have shot many bee videos using the Pro Camera on the Nokia Lumia 1020.

Nokia Pro Camera allows you to record video in two different resolutions, 1920×1080 (Full HD) or 1280×720 (720p). The above sample video was shot in Full HD.

The Lumia 1020 has a high resolution zoom which is 4X for Full HD video and 6X for 720p video. The zoom is high resolution, which means it is completely lossless and the video quality doesn’t drop at all while zooming in!

There are three controls for video: you can turn the video light on or off, you can set the white balance, and focus can be locked manually.

The sample video was shot freehand by first putting the focus manually on macro (about 20cm distance) and then zooming in. This allowed me to learn more about the bees as I could see more details than with bare eyes without getting stung.

I didn’t realize how furry the bees are before having played back the first videos. Also it is interesting to see the different types of pollen that the bees carry back on their legs.

The stereo sound recording is also stunning thanks to Nokia Rich Recording! Put your headset on and watch the video, and you can really feel how the bees are swishing past either side of your head.
