MVC Re-Launch – The Next Chapter

We’ve been a tad quiet about MVC recently, but as always, there’s an excellent reason for that! We’ve been busy sneakily putting together a few major surprises for a re-launch of the MVC Award. Over the past few months we’ve had some absolutely fantastic winners (David, Ram, Julie, Ana to name but a few!) and some impossibly difficult to choose from nominations too. However, we wanted to let you know about a couple of changes that should make it even easier to find more incredible people doing incredible things in the Nokia Community…

The first change is… drum roll please… we have another amazing judge joining the team!

Welcome Emanuela who will be our seventh MVC judge and will be joining Jen, Mark, Jason, Jay, Clinton & Celine on the MVC Judges panel! They’re going to be looking through all our amazing nominations and selecting a winner. Emanuela is a digital entrepreneur (she co-founded AIDA Monitoring and TOK.tv) with a great passion for Social Media (especially Twitter and Instagram) and general tech. She’s a natural born storyteller and discovered that Lumia’s are her best friend to tell the story behind her trips, her work in mobility and share the emotions of being part of the Nokia family. She’s excited to be with us and join the judges group: why? Because she loves connecting and discovering amazing people within the Nokia community!

Welcome Emanuela, I’m sure the Connects community will join me in congratulating you on your new position as MVC Judge!

As if adding a brilliant new judge to our team wasn’t good news enough, we’re also tweaking the nomination process to allow more and more people to be nominated for MVC. We’re going to be introducing a monthly theme. This month we’re looking for people who are doing incredible things with Apps for Nokia devices (that’s Asha & Nokia X too you guys). Know anyone that’s made your life easier by creating the best app ever?

We’ve had some great winners and nominations in the past, doing extraordinary things with Apps for their phone. Who are we looking for exactly? Well, Rudy Huyn who won the award & Sebastiano Galazzo who was popularly nominated last month are just two whose names have cropped up a fair bit (feel free to nominate them again). But we’re looking for just about anyone who is doing new, innovative and exciting things when developing Apps for Nokia devices– we want to say thank you and I’m sure you do too. So get nominating!

We’re also shaking things up a step further this month and announcing the prize in advance – it’s only fair you know what brilliant prize is coming your nomination’s way… This month, the winner will have the icon of their App, 3D printed! That’s right, they’ll receive a physical representation of all their hard work, engraved with their name and to keep forever. Oh, and because we’re really generous, we’ll throw in a Lumia 1520 – complete with a little representation of their app engraved into the device.

So, now you know the awesomeness up for grabs – you probably want to know how to get nominating your friends (or yourself!). Well, that bit we have chosen to keep the same… All you need to do is:

  • Send a tweet to @Nokia_Connects with the url to the piece you are nominating + the #ConnectsMVC hashtag (for images, videos or tweets)
  • Send an email to Paul with the title “#ConnectsMVC nomination” (for anything that requires more explanation or back story)

We can’t wait to see the nominations – so get your thinking caps on!
